#WHM2019: Jamie Simone

Advocate for green space, transit and walkable places Jamie Simone is an Associate at Sam Schwartz. Jamie’s knack for bringing people together comes from her training as a social worker, where learning empathy was part of the curriculum. This training has proven invaluable in her career as an urban planner working on complex projects across the region, allowing her act as translator between communities and planners.

While at IDOT, she helped bring humor to the agency’s safety digital message signs. Prior to that, she helped the Trust for Public Land close the deal to bring the much-celebrated 606 Trail to completion. She also led the development of a Master Plan for Wicker Park that won awards from both American Planning Association and Congress for New Urbanism.
